Job Title: Senior Design Engineer - Automotive Closures Stamping
Job Summary: 
A seasoned Senior Design Engineer is sought for a pivotal role focused on the design and development of automotive closures stamping parts, with a strong preference for candidates skilled in aluminium or composite materials. The role demands excellence in system and component level design, deep understanding of sheet metal formability, and the ability to perform rigorous stamping simulations to ensure manufacturability. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, managing engineering needs and supplier interactions, and effective troubleshooting of design challenges are central to this position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of closures stamping parts ensuring optimization for performance, size, weight, and cost.
  • Execute stamping simulations using AutoForm, guide design with analysis results, and ensure designs meet manufacturability standards.
  • Coordinate closely with internal and external teams to integrate systems efficiently and ensure quality in production.
  • Provide engineering support across product lifecycle, from concept through to prototype and full production stages.
  • Manage documentation and facilitate communication between suppliers and engineering teams, ensuring timely completion of action items.
Must-Have Skills:
  • Proficient in 3D CAD (CATIA V5/V6).
  • Strong experience in automotive closures design and development.
  • Demonstrable capability in managing cross-functional collaborations.
Industry Experience Required:
  • Automotive industry experience, particularly with closures structural systems and hardware.
This role is based in Michigan and requires a candidate with at least 8 years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master's preferred), and a solid track record in system-level integration and prototype assembly. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, a problem solver at heart, and ready to push the boundaries of automotive closures design.
